World's Strongest and Longest Reaching Robot 2011
CNC Machining and Robotics Innovations
FANUC Robotics recently unveiled their newest feat of engineering strength with the release of the world’s strongest and longest reaching heavy-duty robot during Automate 2011, held March 21-24, 2011 at McCormick Place, Chicago.
FANUC’s engineering prowess was seen with the demonstration of the new robot’s extreme reach and lifting abilities. The rigid arm design of the M-2000iA/1200L flaunts a stable 3,000-pound lifting capacity for transferring heavy payloads and a vertical reach of nearly 20 and a half feet. Designed with strength and power, the M-2000iA/1200L lifts enormously heavy items normally requiring dual robots, conveyors, lifts, and other fixed automation.
FANUC incorporated Dual Check Safety functions (DCS) within the robot itself. The most useful application of this technology is limiting the FANUC robot to a specific operating zone, saving floor space, reducing hardware costs, and increasing reliability. FANUC robots contain the ability to enable and disable ‘safe zones’ from an external source. An operator can safely enter a robot workspace system designed with multiple zones, further increasing workspace safety.
Cost-effective investments in robotic machining are crucial in today’s market. With the M-2000iA/1200L, production requirements are easier to meet, and save considerable costs without the need to purchase conveyors, lifts, and multiple lifting robots.
